Blaminhor Essentials: A modular plugin for WordPress with activatable features. Lightweight, secure, free, and reliable.

Over the years, I have built dozens of WordPress sites. For clients, for side projects, for experiments that never left localhost. Each time, I found myself installing the same set of plugins: one for SMTP, another for duplicating posts, a third for maintenance mode, and so on.
It became repetitive. More importantly, it felt wasteful. I was loading ten different codebases—with ten different coding standards, ten different update schedules, and ten different potential security issues—just to accomplish basic tasks.
So I gathered the features I use most often into a single plugin. I call it Blaminhor Essentials.
It is designed around a simple principle: if you don’t activate a feature, its code doesn’t load. No bloat. No unnecessary database queries. Just the tools you actually need.

What’s Inside

It groups essential utilities into a single, modular package. You only load the code for the features you activate. Other features will arrive quickly, depending on my needs and yours.

  • SMTP Mailer: WordPress’s default mail function is unreliable. This module routes emails through a real SMTP server, with automatic fallback
if the primary relay goes down. Preset configs for a dozen providers make setup painless.
  • Backup: I got tired of paying for backup plugins or trusting free ones with questionable update schedules. This one creates separate archives for the database, plugins, themes, and uploads. Schedule it, forget it, and restore with one click if things go south.
  • SEO/GEO: I didn’t want to install a massive SEO plugin just to set meta titles and control indexing. This module covers the essentials: meta tags, Open Graph, SERP preview, XML sitemaps, and indexing rules. If you’re coming from Yoast or Rank Math, it can import your data.
  • Redirections 301: When you change a slug or restructure your site, old URLs break. This module manages 301 redirects with simple rules or regex patterns, and even detects when you rename a post to suggest a redirect automatically.
  • Database Optimizer: WordPress accumulates clutter over time: post revisions, auto-drafts, spam comments, expired transients. This module cleans them out and can do it on a schedule so your database stays lean.
  • Content Duplicator: Cloning a page with all its metadata, taxonomies, and page builder layout should be a one-click operation. Now it is.Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder and others are fully supported.
  • User Role Editor: WordPress’s default role system is rigid. This module lets you create custom roles, edit capabilities per role or per user, and export everything as JSON for reuse across sites.
  • Post Types Order: By default, WordPress sorts posts by date. Sometimes you need manual control. This adds drag-and-drop reordering for any post type or taxonomy, using native WordPress fields.
  • Classic Editor: For those who prefer the old editor, this completely removes Gutenberg and its associated CSS. Clean and fast.
  • Maintenance & Coming Soon Mode: A lightweight page with role-based or IP-based access whitelisting. Choose between a 503 (maintenance) or 200 (coming soon) response depending on your situation.
  • Fatal Error Recovery: A bad plugin update can take your whole site down. This module watches for fatal errors and gives you a secret URL to deactivate the culprit — no FTP needed.
  • Domain Changer: Migrating a site to a new domain means updating hundreds of database references, including serialized data. This handles it in one click, with a preview of what will change before you commit.
  • Favicon Generator: Upload one square image and get every format you need: standard ICO, Apple Touch, Android Chrome, Windows tiles. The manifest and browser config are generated automatically.
  • HTTPS Redirect: Forces HTTPS across the entire site with proper 301 redirects, fixes mixed content issues, and supports HSTS headers for strict transport security.
  • Mute Core Emails: WordPress sends a lot of automatic emails: update notifications, registration confirmations, comment alerts. This lets you silence them individually.
  • Broken Links Checker: Scans your content in small batches to find dead links without overloading the server. Review results, recheck individual URLs, or dismiss false positives.
  • Image Sizes: WordPress and themes register thumbnail sizes you may never use. Disable them, register custom ones, and clean up orphaned files to reclaim disk space.
