I’ve made long-term investments many times in my life. Like many investors, my assets come from different areas: real estate, currencies, cryptocurrencies, stocks, gold coins, etc. It’s not that I have a particularly large portfolio; I’ve simply invested—and continue to invest regularly—within my means.
In truth, my financial security compensates for an emotional void, but that’s not the point…
Eager to know the total and actual value of all my assets, their evolution over time, and my return on investment, I looked for a platform capable of calculating this information.
In reality, there are few solutions available. Platforms are generally very focused on a single investment area, such as cryptocurrency portfolios, which are very well-designed. But I have no desire to use a separate app for each investment category.
I eventually discovered an interesting and free platform that allowed all of this. But of course, what was free ended up being limited—a fairly common tactic in the startup world—until it was no longer possible to add more than 10 assets to the platform. To unlock this limit, the cost was well over a hundred euros annually, with the added perk of receiving investment advice… something I couldn’t care less about.
I just want a free platform that provides me with a simple and insightful summary of my portfolio, something I could even create in an Excel spreadsheet, but with better ergonomics and automation.
Doesn’t exist?
Okay.
Let’s make it.
I’m therefore starting the development of this new platform at the end of 2024, with a plan to proceed iteratively: I won’t be able to launch a finished platform all at once. My plan is to develop a very basic alpha version, fix bugs during the beta phase, and then add new features after the official launch.
The idea is inspired by my journey and the values I uphold in my daily actions: the platform must allow me to add as many assets as I want, freely and for free, but also anonymously. In my view, no one should know what you own—not even me. Additionally, the recorded data must not be linked to anyone: no private data, no IP addresses, no advertising tracking. The solution? Anonymous use of the platform, accessible with a disposable email address—or even no email at all. This way, even if the service were hacked, the stolen data would have no value, not even for phishing.
I’ll have the opportunity to revisit these various ideas I’ve decided to incorporate into this concept, and I’ll update its progress on this blog.
I don’t yet know when the alpha version will be available, but as of now, 75% of the project is already functional. It includes the manual addition of currencies, cryptocurrencies, stocks, and ETFs with automatic value tracking, as well as the ability to manually add assets and assign their value yourself (for example, for real estate or valuable items).
By the way! The platform is called All My Capital, and the official website is already online.
